Nail prep: the nail technician will push and remove the cuticles. After, the natural nail will be buffed and extensions added with tips or forms. Trimming and shaping: the nail technician will trim to desired length and slight shape into desired shape(if needed). Apply acrylic: this is a powder along with a monomer mix to dry (without curing). Shaping and filing: Once the acrylic is applied, the nails are shaped and filed to the desired look. Polish is NOT included! Removing the grown-out portion: The technician removes the part of the acrylic nail that has grown out. A basic manicure will be preformed. Adding a new layer: The technician applies a new layer of acrylic to the nail. Filing and shaping: The technician files and shapes the nails to the desired shape. Nail technicians recommend getting a fill every two to three weeks to keep nails healthy and looking good. Regular fills can also help prevent nail infections and promote the longevity of acrylics. Shortening and buffing: the nail technician will shorten the acrylic nail and then buff the top layer of the nail to allow the acetone to remove the acrylic. Wrapping/soaking: the nail technician will either soak a cotton ball in acetone and wrap the aluminum foil around the finger or lace fingertips in a soaking bowl. Pushing and buffing: the nail technician will use a metal scraper or orange wood stick to gently push the acrylic. After, the natural nail will be buffed to remove any rough edges.
